Terms and Conditions

Booking and admission

1. A ticket booking secures entry to the Scaresville event on the date during the time-band booked i.e. if you have booked in the 7pm to 8pm time band you may arrive up to 7.30pm and you will enter the event between 7pm and 8pm. Exact entry time to the ScareZone during that time band will be determined by tickets issued on arrival (usually on a first come, first served basis but this is not guaranteed). In the 8.30pm to 9pm time band, please arrive by about 8pm (a little earlier if you want a snack and drink before entry), You should enter the ScareZone during that time band or within 30 minutes of its end though this is not guaranteed.

2. If ticket holders arrive after the booked time band has expired, Kentwell will use reasonable effort to fit them in later time bands if there is space, but usually after ticket holders who have booked for that time-band. If there is not space, Kentwell may, at its discretion, offer a time band on a later date but this is not guaranteed.

3. Kentwell reserves the right to refuse admission to anyone. Persons will not be admitted if they appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Equally we reserve the right not to admit, or to ask to leave, anyone displaying aggressive or antagonistic behaviour or not complying with the Scaresville rules. Also for safety reasons persons may not be admitted if wearing any form of temporary cast, medical brace or who are using crutches.

4. Ticket holders may experience intense audio and lighting, extreme low visibility, strobe lights, fog, damp or wet conditions, high and low temperatures and a physically demanding environment. Persons should not book tickets or attend Scaresville if pregnant, suffer from claustrophobia or are liable to seizures, heart or respiratory problems.

5. Scaresville is an adult event not intended for children. We strongly advise that Scaresville is not suitable for children aged under 14. All children aged 18 or under must be accompanied by a guardian aged over 21. If a child or young person appears seriously frightened we may ask the parent or guardian to take the child out, and to stay with them, if there is only one adult aged over 21 with the group then the whole group will be asked to step out. ID may be required on entry.

6. No smoking on site. This includes e-cigarettes and ‘vapes’. No alcohol or food to be brought onto the site.

7. Ticket holders must understand that there is inherent risk involved in attending Scaresville. This includes the risk of tripping, falling, stumbling, being knocked into or over, stubbing toes, banging into things, low headroom or become unbalanced howsoever it may occur. Scaring takes advantage of uneven or changing levels or varying surfaces underfoot and uneven ground whether natural or contrived. Patrons came to be scared and scaring takes advantage of every form of apprehension both natural and created. In consideration and acceptance of entrance into Scaresville holders agree to release the operator, its principals and employees from any liability, harm, injury or death, cost or expense whatsoever that may arise directly or indirectly from attending Scaresville.

Refunds

8. Once tickets are booked there are no refunds. We regret we are unable to transfer tickets.

Weather

9. Scaresville will continue whatever the weather and actually welcomes every form of adverse weather including mist, fog, rain, wind, thunder, lightning and storm. Ticket holders should dress suitably with appropriate footwear for the weather on the night. Do not bring or raise umbrellas within Scaresville. Ticket holders must keep moving and not occupy covered areas to keep out of the weather and thus interfere with the progress of others.

Going Round Scaresville

10. Scaresville is designed and operates to scare groups not individuals. Ticket holders should keep together in the group in which they entered the ScareZone. Members of the group should not race on ahead or lag behind. The group should proceed steadily so as not to merge with group(s) ahead or behind. Scaresville staff may halt groups to separate them out if they are getting too close.

11. Ticket holders must keep to the designated route which is defined by paths, tracks, flares, lights, ropes, barriers & signs or otherwise howsoever. DO NOT climb over or through barriers of any sort.

12. Scaresville makes much use of darkness or uneven or uncertain terrain and obstacles to create scares. Scaresville is not suitable for visitors with limited mobility or wheelchairs.

13. There are some ‘scaredy-cat options’ which offer a way round possible scares or a less demanding option. However, those taking this option should wait for the rest of their group to reconvene before moving on.

The Scares

14. DO NOT touch any exhibits, or extinguish or move any flares or lights. If you violate this rule you will be asked to leave without a refund.

15. DO NOT push, hit, hit out at, grab, punch, touch, any Scarer, marshal, dummy, device, mirror glass, wall, partition or door or assault, square up to, threaten or abuse any scarer or marshal. If you do so or appear to do so you will be escorted off the premises.

16. Do not use a torch or cell-phone light at any time unless you are too scared to continue, If you do so a Scare may not operate for the whole group. If you are too scared to continue or otherwise want to leave announce ‘Please, I want to leave” when at a scare or shine a torch onto your own face not about you or otherwise howsoever. This will be taken as an indication that that person wants to leave. Shining a torch at any time otherwise not only affects the whole group but may affect other groups too. We try to extract anyone who wants to leave as discreetly as possible but this cannot always be achieved without the rest of the group missing a scare or having the the scary atmosphere we strive to create broken.

17. Anyone too scared to continue (but not wishing to disturb the group as a whole) should look for signs for, or ask any scarer for directions to, the nearest exit.

Accidents

18. In the event of an accident, the group should stay where it is and call “Help – Accident!” and wait for a marshall to attend. Thereafter follow directions given by staff.
